I’m Michaela. I’m a full-spectrum body literacy advocate.

I have felt called from a young age to work with people through menstruation, fertility, pregnancy, birth, and beyond. I remember pulling my mom’s old nursing books off the shelf and sitting in the floor to read about menstrual cycles and vulvas.

Fertility awareness methods were the light in the darkness when I decided that hormonal birth control was not working for me. I stumbled upon FAM and fell in love with everything it had to offer. I learned so much about the way my body works to sustain me and give me the power of healing and creation - to gestate and birth new humans and world-moving ideas.

It is my passion and honor to bring knowledge and body literacy to others who live in bodies graced with ovulatory cycles.

Hello!

I was drawn to fertility awareness as my form of pregnancy prevention because it didn’t involve synthetic hormones or barriers.

I stayed because it provided the flexibility I wanted for my lifestyle and health.

Do you have a stack of fertility awareness books waiting to be read?

From the second I first read the words “fertility awareness method”, I couldn’t stop researching. I was digging everywhere I could think of to see if this was legitimate. Then I was trying to learn from anyone and everyone how to start charting. Youtube, Facebook groups, blogs. There are so many awesome people sharing about their experiences with FAM, recommending books and resources to learn, but honestly…

I was overwhelmed.

Self-teaching was fun and empowering all on its own. But I felt scattered and overwhelmed. I remember laying in bed one night scrounging for some “rules” to this method. I finally found a method handbook (there’s more than one!) and felt like I was cheating somehow. It shouldn’t be that difficult!

The good news is that it isn’t that hard.

I work with people who want to narrow down the mental clutter of self-teaching and start charting quickly with a firm understanding of what their biomarkers tell them about their health and physiology.

Preventing pregnancy isn’t an area of life in which to feel alone or confused.

I help menstruators to build an organized fertility awareness practice and to have the knowledge, tools, and confidence to reach their fertility goals.

My background

Before finding fertility awareness, I received my Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Western Carolina University, a growing institution nestled in the mountains of North Carolina.

My background in human anatomy and health care education laid the groundwork for teaching fertility awareness. Tutoring my peers in college in chemistry and biology nurtured my discussion-based methods that are designed to empower.

Empowerment and education are for everyone, no matter their age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or gender identity.
